Jedna Dva Tři Gallery invites you to the opening of the exhibition "Do you remember me?", which will take place on Monday 1 August at 18:00. We look forward to seeing you!
Do you remember? We were walking by the river then and saw swans, those majestic creatures with slender necks. Passers-by admired their beauty from the shore.
When one of them jumped on the other's back, we thought they were playing, enjoying the sunny day. But the intense game quickly turned into a fight for life. What a surprise when we realized that this was an act of violence. The beautiful birds fought with each other while people threw pieces of fresh bread from the shore for them to eat. They wanted to lure them away to save them. Who knows if they realized the bread would have killed them.
The turmoil of the birds’ bodies belied their supposed fragility, graceful necks thrashed in a dangerous duel. We wanted to watch their magnificence from the shore, and we didn't understand where our expectations had gone.
What if they were just trying to mock our idea of them? To show us their bodies in a different purity than we are used to perceiving and thus destroy our naive ideas. What seemed to us like fighting nature was perhaps their manifestation of authenticity, a desire for their own identity. But perhaps they themselves did not know what and why they were fighting.

Pamatuješ si? Šli jsme tehdy u řeky a viděli jsme labutě, ty majestátní tvory se štíhlým krkem. Jejich krásu obdivovali ze břehu kolemjdoucí.
Když jeden z nich skočil druhému na záda, mysleli jsme, že si hrají a užívají si slunečného dne. Vyhrocená hra se ale rychle změnila v boj o život. Jaké bylo překvapení, když jsme si uvědomili, že to byl akt násilí. Krásní ptáci mezi sebou bojovali, zatímco jim lidé házeli kousky čerstvého chleba ze břehu, aby je snědli. Chtěli je odlákat, aby je zachránili. Kdo ví, jestli si uvědomili, že by je ten chléb zabil.
Neklid ptačích těl popíral jejich domnělou křehkost, půvabné krky zmítané v nebezpečném souboji. Chtěli jsme sledovat jejich velkolepost ze břehu a nechápali jsme, kam se naše očekávání poděla.
Co když se jen snažili zesměšnit naši představu o nich? Ukázat nám jejich těla v jiné čistotě, než jsme zvyklí vnímat a zničit tak naše naivní představy. To, co nám připadalo jako boj s přírodou, byl možná jejich projev autenticity, touha po vlastní identitě. Možná ale sami nevěděli, proti čemu a proč bojují.
