A showcase of live acts with the focus on contemporary music production. We will present a broad variety of quality acts from the Czech alternative scene in the fifth year by music dramaturgist Mojmir Mechura.

About Jakub:
Jakub Šimanský is a Czech musician who has been on the music scene for several years. His music is characterized by its experimental and independent approach to acoustic instruments such as steel guitar, lap steel (Hawaiian) guitar or banjo. Šimanský has already released two full-length albums. The first is Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. 1 which was released on Stoned to Death Records in 2016. The record was well received at home and abroad especially in the subculture of the "American primitivism" genre from which he drew to some extent but the music is very much marked not only by his own approach to playing variety in tuning and rhythm but also by a sense of strong melodies which also draws on the tradition of Czech folk or Eastern music. Three years later in 2019 he started a collaboration with Full Moon Magazine and its publishing platform Full Moon Forum which resulted in the follow-up album Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. 2. Šimanský's playing style is based on the first album but he begins to experiment more in terms of sound and techniques and to find new possibilities for his acoustic instruments. He is also a member of the active guitar duo Šimanský Niesner with whom he performs extensively both at home and abroad and with whom he has released three full-length albums on the Stoned To Death Records and Korobushka Records labels.
Something about his new album “What Do You Mean By That” (2025):
This third album is once again an invitation to journey into a world without clear boundaries of musical genre, where different styles and experimental approaches intersect with acoustic instruments.
It is a selection of songs Jakub has completed from the collected mobile phone recordings over the last 8 years which were not used in the Šimanský Niesner project. Thanks to this the listener is once again treated to a varied mix of rhythms, non-standard tunings, unexpected combinations and compositions. Each track is thus a small story compiled from the past, with no other message behind it than to create a musical world in which you can let yourself be carried away by the music itself.
The album was recorded by Jakub himself gradually over the course of 2024, in Brno, in a rented office where Jakub was also living. The sound was done by Julian Werl, an Austrian producer, sound engineer and musician living in Brno also known as Nichi Mlebom. The front cover was created by Jaroslav Exner. The album is self-published.

Kytarista Jakub Šimanský po ukončení téměř desetiletého působení na bicí v noise-rockové kapele UNNA sólově debutoval deskou Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. 1,. která vyšla na labelu Stoned to Death Records v roce 2016. Deska byla dobře přijata doma i v zahraničí, především v subkultuře žánru “americký primitivismus”, ze kterého do jisté míry čerpal, avšak v hudbě je do značné míry patrný nejen vlastní přístup ke hře, pestrost v ladění a rytmice, ale také třeba smysl pro silné melodie, čímž navazuje i na tradici českého folku nebo východní hudby. Po třech letech, v roce 2019 navazuje spolupráci s Full Moon Magazínem a jeho vydavatelskou platformou Full Moon Forum, ze které vzniklo návazné album Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. 2, kde Šimanský vychází stylem hry z první desky, v oblasti zvuku a postupů však začíná výrazněji experimentovat a hledat nové možnosti svých akustických nástrojů. Na jaře roku 2025, po více, jak pěti letech Jakubovi vychází nové album s názvem “What Do You Mean By That?”. Jakub Šimanský je také členem aktivního kytarového dua Šimanský Niesner, se kterým intenzivně koncertuje doma i v zahraničí a vydal společně tři dlouhohrající desky.

Toto třetí album je opět pozvánkou na cestu do světa bez jasných hranic hudebního žánru, kde se různé styly a experimentální přístupy protínají s akustickými nástroji.
Jedná se o výběr skladeb, které Jakub dokončil z nashromážděných záznamů v mobilních telefonech za posledních 8 let, které nakonec nebyly použity v projektu Šimanský Niesner. Díky tomu na posluchače opět čeká pestrá směs rytmů, nestandardních ladění, nečekaných kombinací nebo kompozic. Každá skladba je tak malým příběhem sestavená z minulosti, za kterým nestojí žádné jiné poselství, než vytvořit hudební svět, ve kterém se můžete nechat unášet samotnou hudbou.
Album nahrával Jakub sám postupně v průběhu roku 2024 v Brně. O zvuk se postaral Julian Werl, rakouský producent, zvukový inženýr a hudebník žijící v Brně, známý také jako Nichi Mlebom. Obálku vytvořil Jaroslav Exner. Album je vydáno vlastním nákladem.
