The sun was strangely obscured today, with the atmosphere shrouded in a wisp of fine mist, mingled with a thin layer of clouds. The phenomenon resembled sandy yellow watercolor paint applied to a damp, illuminated piece of paper. Flowers appeared to sway in the airy swirls. The mild temperature and the absence of direct heat made it difficult to recognize the relationship between the sun and the earth.

The combination of the unique perspective and the intertwining shadows of the flowering trees outside the windows draws us into a world where the line between reality and illusion blurs. In this uncanny space, where ghosts seem to mingle with the light of dusk, we occasionally experience the sensation of being watched, as we slowly disappear from their sight. When we finally muster the courage to venture outside, we bring a flashlight to ensure we don't encounter anyone.

Our ability to see these figures does not necessarily reflect our susceptibility to the supernatural, but rather it mirrors our moods, temperaments, hopes, and expectations. At the slightest hint, something always materializes. However, it's invariably incomplete. It is the desire to see something new that emerges, intermingled with glimpses of lost memories both distant and close.

And so, as our own internal rhythms of preference and the irresistibly sweet ways of personal logic blend with this mysterious world, its enchanting nature is constantly evolving.

Slunce bylo dnes podivně zastřené; atmosféra byla zahalena do závanu jemné mlhy, smíchané s tenkou vrstvou mraků. Jev připomínal pískově žlutou akvarelovou barvu, setkávající se s osvětleným vlhkým kusem papíru. Květiny se zdánlivě houpaly ve vzdušných vírech. Kvůli mírné teplotě a nepřítomnosti přímého tepla bylo obtížné si uvědomit vztah Slunce k Zemi.

Skloubení úhlu pohledu a propletení stínů kvetoucích stromů za okny nás vtahuje do světa, ve kterém se hranice mezi skutečností a iluzí stírá. V tomto podivuhodném prostoru, kde se přízraky prolínají se světlem soumraku, nás občas přepadne pocit, že nás někdo pozoruje a poté zmizí z dohledu. Vždy když se nakonec vydáme ven, s baterkou, abychom se ujistili, nikoho nenalezneme.

Naše schopnost vidět tyto postavy neodráží nutně naši náchylnost k přízračnému, ale spíše odráží naše nálady, temperamenty, naděje a očekávání. Při sebemenším náznaku se vždy něco zhmotní. Ale samozřejmě, vždy je to divoce neúplné. Je to touha spatřit něco nového, co vzniká, mísící se s odlesky ztracených vzpomínek jak vzdálených, tak blízkých.

A tak, jak se náš vlastní vnitřní rytmus preferencí a neodolatelně sladké cesty osobní logiky spojují s tímto podivným světem, jeho magie se neustále vyvíjí.





Anna-Marie Berdychová (*1994) and Samuel Stano (*1999) met during their studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Prague and have been working together since 2021. Their work is characterized by references to traditional symbols of power relations and the politics of public space, which they reinterpret and adapt into a new language. It reflects their interest in the theme of games as simulations of social situations and encourages thinking about their boundaries. By exploring the variability of materials and experimenting with their properties, Berdychová and Stano work at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and installation. The presence of folkloric aesthetics in their creations points to themes of identity, communities, and the preservation of cultural values in an ever-changing time. Their meticulously executed and materially rich DIY works aim to open a dialogue between the past and the present, emphasizing continuity and transformation.

Anna-Marie Berdychová (*1994) a Samuel Stano (*1999) se seznámili během studií na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze a od roku 2021 spolupracují. Jejich tvorba se vyznačuje odkazy na tradiční symboly mocenských vztahů a politiky veřejného prostoru, které reinterpretují a upravují do nového jazyka. Odráží se v ní zájem o téma hry jako simulace společenských situací a vybízí k přemýšlení o jejich hranicích. Zkoumáním variability materiálů a experimentováním s jejich vlastnostmi pracují Berdychová a Stano na pomezí malby, sochy a instalace. Přítomnost folklorní estetiky v jejich tvorbě poukazuje na témata identity, komunit a uchování kulturních hodnot ve stále se měnící době. Jejich pečlivě provedená a materiálově bohatá DIY díla se snaží otevřít dialog mezi minulostí a současností, zdůrazňují kontinuitu a transformaci.
